About Us/Me

Hi and welcome to our profile! We are Jason and Rachel, and we are thrilled to be growing our family through adoption. Due to medical concerns, after the birth of our first child, Rachel opted to have her tubes tied. However, it is deeply important to us that our daughter has a sibling. When Rachel was in high school, she had a friend with two adopted sisters, and after seeing how close their family was, she knew adoption was the right choice.

We have been married for nearly 10 years. We love going on new adventures together, trying locally owned restaurants, and learning new things. Some of our favorite trips have been a Caribbean cruise, Florida beaches, and exploring cities like Washington D.C., St. Louis, and Indianapolis. Many of our date nights are art related, like wine and paint nights and making blown glass pumpkins. We love learning to cook new and tasty dinners to keep mealtime interesting.

We have one daughter, Julia, who was born in 2017. She loves going to the local parks and playing with the neighborhood kids. She enjoys a variety of classes including gymnastics, swimming lessons, and music class. Her favorite babysitter is her “Mimsy” (Jason’s mom). We have a dog: Quincy, and three cats: Cleo, Franklin, and Shamus.

We live in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio in one of the top rated school districts in the area and in the state. Our house is in walking distance of three parks, a community pool, and a downtown shopping area. Downtown has a strip of local restaurants, ice cream shops, antique stores, an outdoor area that hosts concerts and festivals, and even a splashpad for the kids! Our community hosts several festivals and events throughout the year, including our favorite – a summer festival, which has a firework display that you can see from our backyard!

Jason was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and went to college in Dayton, Ohio. Upon college graduation, he was commissioned into the US Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps. He went to training in Missouri, then was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. After his time in the Army, Jason returned to Columbus, and joined the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, where he still works as a Deputy Sheriff.

Rachel is originally from Northern Kentucky, but spent most of her childhood in Cincinnati, Ohio. She went to college in Dayton, Ohio, and moved to Fort Bragg, North Carolina with Jason after graduation. In 2012 Rachel was accepted into the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and in 2016 she became a Veterinarian. Now, she is the owner of the veterinary hospital where she works treating dogs and cats.

We met during undergrad at Starbucks. Rachel was working as a barista and Jason was a customer! We got engaged in Missouri on the 4th of July while Jason was at training, and we got married in 2010, just before moving to Fort Bragg. We lived in Columbus, Ohio while Rachel finished veterinary school, and after Rachel graduated, we moved to our forever home.

About You

We would first like to thank you for looking at our profile. What you are doing for your child (children), is a true example of courage and love.  We cannot begin to understand the mixed emotions you might be feeling.  Although our stories are different, we have enough experience as parents and as human beings to assure you one thing: It is not blood that makes family.  It is shared experiences and mutual feelings of love and respect. That is what makes family!

We promise that your child will grow in the same safe learning environment that our own daughter has.  They will grow, learn and play together.  They will share all the same opportunities, experiences, and be guided to achieve their goals.  After all, it’s not just about what we do with them as babies! It is also about how we help them achieve their dreams as adults. This commitment and journey are lifelong.

All this aside: Your child will know their story.  They will know your story. Just as your child will become a part of our family, so too will a piece of you. Thank you again for viewing our profile.  We wish you the best on your journey and hope to be a part of it with you!
