I could not be more excited to give you a snapshot of what my life is like!
Short story: I'm a writer/professor guy who loves Cleveland and has a great family & friends who are all so excited for me to have a baby!

I am a professor of education at a local university here in Cleveland. I have the wonderful opportunity to work with college students who are looking to devote their lives to supporting students all around the world, which never fails to make me smile. Specifically, most my courses are about how we talk about diversity in society and how we can do the real work to lift up underrepresented voices. The work feels meaningful, and I am so lucky to be able to be a part of it.
Because my teaching schedule is almost exclusively on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, I have a TON of free time to devote to my other passion: writing! I am a journalist and write for various different magazines and newspapers on the topics of politics, civil rights, and arts & entertainment. I get to interact with the most fascinating people all across the country, and amplify the great work they are doing to big audiences. I've even had the opportunity to publish 4 books over the past 5 years, which just floors me! Truly, as long as I get to keep writing and making a difference with my pen and keyboard, I feel so *so* fulfilled.
I have an incredible family: I'm the youngest of 4 siblings and have 7 nieces and nephews. I speak to or Facetime someone from my family every single day of the week, and usually a lot more frequently than that. They are so excited for me to have a child and to show this baby all the love that they have shown me over the years.
AND, I have an incredible friend circle! Although I grew up right outside of New York City, Cleveland has become an adopted home for me. My friends are the most caring, artistic, compassionate group, and I know that they will be knocking on my door constantly to support this entire process.
Hobbies-wise: I'm a big runner and a huge tennis player (Serena Williams fan forever!). I just mostly like being active, and I leap at each and every opportunity to travel the world, see new places, and try new things. I am overjoyed at the chance to share that with a child!
All in all, I am blessed with a flexible and exciting world around me. Fatherhood would make my life even more amazing.
First and foremost, the most important and overwhelming emotion I am feeling right now: APPRECIATION.
APPRECIATION that you would even consider me. APPRECIATION that you are reading these words. APPRECIATION for the path that you are walking.
This is such a ginormous decision and I want you to know that I will spend my life honoring your journey both in my heart and in the life of this child.
Fatherhood has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. I come from a very tight-knit family with parents who role-model the huge importance of family. I have watched my 7 nieces and nephews grow up, and take my uncle role very seriously! I chat with at least one of them daily and am excited to see the great things they will do.
Ten years ago, I sadly had two failed adoptions in the same year. Both of these processes ended right before the child was born, and it was pretty devastating that the opportunities didn't work out. It took me ten years to rearrange my life and get to a place where I am truly ready to start over again on this journey.
I am surrounded by family and friends who are leaping at the opportunity to be a part of my village. So it will always be a full house of love.
And it will always be a house full of hope and creativity. That's what keeps me going and that will be such a huge part of this child's life.
Again, I appreciate you. I'm excited to get to know you. And I'm excited for you to get to know me so that you will see firsthand the immense amout of love I have in my heart for the trust you will be placing in me.
