About Us/Me

Hello! Thank you for taking a look at our profile! We are Jake and Nicole from Moon (yes, we live on the Moon!), Pennsylvania, which is about 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh. In addition to us, we live with our son Wesley as well as our 3 cats (Penny, Moes and Mouse) and dog (Ozzie).

We have been married for almost 6 years, and together for 8. We spend almost all of our time together (especially after both ending up as work from home after Covid). When the world is not in a state of pandemic, we love to travel and explore different places. We love going to the beach (especially the Florida Keys!) but also unique areas like Sedona, the Grand Canyon, whatever strikes our interest. Wherever we are - traveling or at home - we’re always on a search for delicious food, researching the best and most unique restaurants. Most weekends you will find Jake cooking up something delicious on one of his smokers or grills, and Nicole mixing up a homemade BBQ sauce and sides to go along. Our house has an inground pool, where we entertain our friends and family all summer long. But most nights after Wes goes to bed, we like to kick back and relax, with cats on our laps, watching our favorite shows while Nicole works on whatever crochet or knit project she has going on.

The other member of our human crew is Wesley (Wes for short). He is a 4 year old with an old soul who is very excited about the idea of being a big brother. He loves to play with his cars or blocks, or even just go out into the yard and spray everything (and I mean everything) down with the hose. He also loves to snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie with Mommy and Daddy. He’s game to try just about any food that ends up on his plate, especially Daddy’s BBQ. And it’s definitely his favorite when we all eat our dinner on the couch while watching Paw Patrol or whatever show is the newest fascination. He is very sweet, smart and well spoken and always keeps us on our toes.

In addition to the people in our house, we have our own personal zoo of animal friends that live with us as well. Penny and Moes were Nicole’s cats before we met - Penny just turned 17 and Moes will be 16 in July. Since dating, we acquired Mouse and Ozzie who are both 8. We are definitely animal people, and constantly have our cats and dog hanging out with us wherever we are in the house.

We consider ourselves very lucky to live so close to a lot of our family. While both of our parents are divorced, we do have 3 out of 4 sets of those parents living in the Pittsburgh area. We are constantly visiting Nana and Pop Pop to see their chickens, or visiting airplanes with Pap (who is a pilot) and Grandma, or going to the zoo with Nana Dot. Nicole’s brother with his wife and two children (who are 5 and 4) live only a few miles away, and usually spend about 2 weekends a month getting together and hanging out. We take family trips together, including at least an annual camping trip where everyone can stay up late and eat too many S’Mores. While we have a big extended family, our siblings have finished having children, so our newest addition will have the benefit of being the baby of the entire family. This includes the real possibility of being spoiled with love and attention from all their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

We both have jobs where luckily, after Covid, as mentioned, we both work from home which offers us a lot of flexibility. Jake works in technology for a popular retailer and Nicole is a project manager for a health insurance company. Wes goes to daycare/school only a mile away, so it’s easy to sometimes shift schedules around for an impromptu pool day or even just a trip to the mall to ride the escalators up and down if that’s what we’re in the mood for.

While we might be biased, we think we’re a good little family that has a lot of fun and love to go around. Since planning our family we had always dreamed of having two children. After having Wes, the desire to have another grew even deeper. After having some trouble conceiving Wes in the first place, we started fertility treatment quickly after, and spent the next 3 years on a path that, unfortunately, had more downs than ups. While that journey was a challenge, it has helped us build our patience, our communication, our resolve and most of all our gratefulness for our family. We know that whatever hardships we experienced put us on the path we’re meant to be on and we are thrilled at the opportunity to adopt. We truly can’t wait to snuggle and love another little soul and watch them grow into the person they’re meant to be.

About You

We are very grateful and excited that you are here reading our profile and considering us. You must be having a million different thoughts and feelings right now, which must be overwhelming. Life has a funny way of taking us all on our own journeys that we never expected that help mold us into who we will become. Our journey, while having its own challenges, has brought us here. With us, your child would have a warm and loving home, a safe place to land and an amazing extended family to support them all their lives. We encourage and fully support an open relationship with you because what will always be most important to us is the health and happiness of our children. Thank you again for taking the time to consider us, and whatever decision you make we hope it takes you on a journey of happiness and peace. Take care of yourself, and we hope to talk to you further!
