About Us/Me

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our profile - it really means a lot to us. More than anything, we want you to know how much we appreciate your bravery, courage, and commitment to being here right now.

As for our story: We first met in 2016 on a blind date in Chicago, IL. Nick had moved back home to Chicago in 2014 after living in New York City, and Adam was in town visiting some friends from Columbus, OH. We immediately hit it off and the weeks after became a whirlwind of long-distance phone calls and road trips back-and-forth from Ohio to Illinois. Four months later, Adam moved to Chicago to be closer to Nick. Looking back, this was honestly such an easy decision to make; being together just felt like home.

Here’s what we’ve learned about each other since:

Adam (as told by Nick) is 33 years old and grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. He’s the oldest of 6 brothers, and he is fiercely loyal to his family. It’s one of the main reasons that I fell in love with him - he fights for what he believes in and who he loves with confidence and passion. Adam works at an organization that helps support people experiencing issues related to mental health, racism and homophobia. Whether it’s helping someone cope through a personal concern, or working with a couple to find balance in their relationship, he seems to find the best in others, and values connecting on an authentic, deep level. There’s a gentleness and patience to Adam that I see most when he’s interacting with our nieces, Roxy and Izzy. His openness and genuine curiosity is what I believe is going to help make him such an incredible dad. There’s truly no one else on this earth I’d want by my side as we journey into parenthood.

Nick (as told by Adam) is 33 years old. He grew up in Chicago with one older brother, and a bunch of cousins who remained his closest friends growing up. His mom is an amazing cook, and she luckily never stops feeding you when you visit her home. Nick has made a career as an actor and a vocal performer, singing on Broadway and touring across the U.S. and Canada. He now sings for weddings and special events, and still enjoys singing in a choir like he did growing up. Besides his talent, people remember Nick when they meet him. For one, he has the energy and the imagination of a four-year-old, and kids seem to know it - he’s the chosen uncle to run around the backyard while pretending he’s an airplane, or to hunt monsters hiding in the bushes. Among kids and adults alike, though, he has a way of making you feel like you’re the only person in the room. He is incredibly loyal and forgiving, and helps me to forgive myself at times, too. I’m really excited to see the Dad that he becomes.

We now have a 3 year old dog named Baloo (named after the Jungle Book) who truly is the sweetest pup on the planet. Baloo thinks he’s a human first and foremost, and he really, REALLY loves bananas. :) He has a body that looks a little too long for his short, stubby legs but he can still run faster than any other dog in our neighborhood. We've found that he also responds to a long list of nicknames--Baboo; Baloo-ga Whale; Boombox; Batman; Tiny Dancer--and, he loves to follow around our 2-year old niece since she always has snacks to share with him. We've had so much fun watching him grow up from a 9-week old puppy--he's a big part of our family.

Other than hanging with the pup, we love taking road trips. Travel has always been an important part of Adam’s life, and Nick has had the opportunity to travel a lot as an actor. Together, we’ve been able to road trip across Italy and Iceland. One of our favorite places to visit together is Vancouver, BC and the Pacific North West. Kayaking and hiking are newer hobbies for us, and are something we hope to keep doing as time goes on as a family.

Music is also a big part of our daily life. While Nick is the professional singer, Adam can be heard providing full-out concerts while singing in the shower or to the car radio, and he loves to whistle. (Nick: He’s truly one of the best whistlers you’ve ever heard. It’s a weird but endearing talent.) We both come from pretty loud and musical families, and that’s a tradition we hope to carry on in our own family.

Towards the beginning of our relationship, one of the first things we connected on was the dream of becoming dads. One of the best things about finding each other was knowing that we shared this really important vision for the future. Instead of recieving gifts at our wedding in October 2018, we created an adoption fund so that anyone who wanted to give a wedding gift could instead donate to our goal of this adoption. In the aftermath, we're still so grateful knowing our closest family and friends were a part of helping us make the decision to become parents.

We moved back to Ohio in April 2020, and into a neighborhood close to Adam’s family with a fenced backyard for Baloo and a neighborhood pool. We’re slowly trying to create a home that reflects who we are with reading nooks for Adam, and cozy lounging spaces - perfect for movie marathons for Nick. Now that we’re settled, we are feeling connected to our neighborhood and the community in Columbus, and are really thankful we decided to make the move.

About You

We're so interested to learn about who you are, and eager to hear your story. And, though we haven't met, we already feel a gigantic amount of gratitude for you and the steps you're taking right now to care for this little human.  We cannot fully imagine all of the ways you might be feeling right now; as two gay men, we won't ever have your same experience.  But, we're ready to show up for you in ways that feel important, and are committed to helping your baby become a kind and thoughtful human who will experience so much love and compassion in ways that all of us are deserving.

We were drawn to the possibility of an open adoption because we really believe it’s important for everyone to understand their history; important aspects of their identity; and the story about how they came into the world. We think it's important that your bravery is known and respected, and that this baby understands how much they were cared for and considered throughout this decision process.

It would be our privilege to go on this journey with you, and to help bring this future child into adulthood. From the bottom of our hearts, we are so thankful for your courage, trust, and open-heartedness. Thank you, again, for taking the time to learn about us and we hope to hear from you soon!
